Lee’s Marquita (2027) Soft, romantic, pastel shaded flowers are named in memory of my neighbor, Marquita Green, the sweetest old Appalachian lady I ever knew.
Lee’s Marquita is a great cut flower on a strongly vertical plant that is under four feet tall. The 4” flowers top long stems all season long and the petals take on a nice little ruffle as the flowers age. As you can see, this lovely flower is also highly photogenic in various lighting and displays nuances in the coloration as the flowers develop. The creamy ivory petals are outlined with pink and a pink wash starts at the tips and paints itself towards the center as the season progresses and the flowers open.
Lee’s Marquita is also included in the Barely There Dahlia Tuber Collection https://www.goldenrodgardens.net/lees-dahlias/barely-there-dahlia-tuber-collection
