Terms of Sale

Goldenrod Gardens guarantees tubers to be healthy, have at least one visible eye and correctly named.  Goldenrod Gardens is not responsible for tuber failure due to improper storage, unpredictable weather, poor garden practices, terrestrial, contact or aerial fungus, animal/insect damage. This includes tuber rot from excessive soil moisture, excessive cold or general tuber intolerance due to extreme heat and drought. Even the shell of a rotten tuber will persist in the ground for months, so if it isn’t there, something ate it and therefore not eligible for replacement. If your dahlia tuber does not emerge after 6 weeks, dig it up and email me. Do not dispose of any tuber or dahlia plant before contacting me. No evidence=no replacement.

All shipments are insured for the value of the order via USPS ($99 and under) and Shipsurance ($100 +) and claims can be filed with them using your tracking number in the case of stolen, missing, or generally damaged shipments. Insurance does NOT cover cold damage. Orders will not be shipped during periods of extreme cold.

Potting tubers up with the intention of taking cuttings or pre-starting tubers is at customer’s risk. Choice of growing medium, growing temperatures, and the tendency to overwater are all great ways to rot perfectly healthy tubers. Replacements and refunds will not be issued if tubers are used in this manner. DO NOT pot tubers in bagged potting soil (such as Miracle Grow) that have fertilizer added, it can cook them. If they are planted in this medium, Goldenrod Gardens is not responsible for them and they are not eligible for replacement.

If, when planted within ideal conditions, a tuber fails to grow, a replacement will be sent the following year. In most cases, monetary refunds will not be issued after the tuber is planted.

Although it is normal for most varieties when the days become shorter in autumn, some dahlia cultivars may bloom with open centers during hot weather and that is out of our control. Please contact me, however, if your plant appears to be a sport (with photos).

Partial cancellations of an order are not accepted. Cancellation of a full order is accepted if there is an extenuating circumstance- I do understand. Please contact me at least 2 weeks before your expected shipping date.

Goldenrod Gardens reserves the right to cancel any item or order due to crop shortage or freaks of nature at any time before shipment. Buyer will receive a full refund for any unshipped items.

If there is any issue with an order when received, buyer must contact Goldenrod Gardens via email within 5 days of the order receipt. Please keep in mind that tuber eyes are often still dormant and may be difficult to see and that viable, healthy tubers come in all shapes and sizes. Please also keep in mind that tubers break dormancy at different rates by variety and may take up to 6 weeks before they send shoots above the soil. BE PATIENT and let them do their thing! When contacting Goldenrod Gardens in regards to your order, include the order number that corresponds to the tuber in question and relevant photos with the label still attached. If they have been planted, dig down and figure out what they look like before contacting me.

Although it is very rare, if a tuber was mistakenly tagged, I need to know no later than October 1 of that growing year and once reviewed, a replacement may be issued the following year. Goldenrod Gardens reserves the right to request that a buyer provide photographic evidence and/or return any tubers before a replacement tuber is issued. Shipping is not refunded.

All terms of sale are for the current growing year.

Potting tubers to force for cuttings is at customer’s own risk and any losses from that are not eligible for replacement or refund.
